About Carl Herring
Carl Herring is one of the leading British guitarists of his generation. Having graduated from the Royal Academy of Music with first class honours in 2003, he won the highly coveted Julian Bream Prize and the prestigious Ivor Mairants Award. Carl’s blossoming career has already seen him share a stage with John Williams, and he has received the enthusiastic praise of Leo Brouwer and Gyorgy Kurtag for his interpretation of their compositions. With a rapidly growing international reputation, he has given performances in Cuba, Sri Lanka, Scandinavia, Continental Europe and the Caribbean and has given recitals for Britain’s leading international guitar festivals and societies.
Known also for his exceptional versatility, Carl also loves composing, arranging and performing with jazz and Latin American ensembles as well as accompanying flamenco dancers. In December, he is touring China with his Tango ensemble ‘Panoply’. www.thepanoply.com
His classical debut album ‘Azure’ was released this summer on the Falcon Records label and contains music by Rodrigo, Berkeley and Bach.
