Solo Blues Guitar

Author: Justin Sandercoe

A study in alternating between rhythm and lead blues playing. Break this piece into easily learnt bits and practice up the first section, the intro lick (it's a classic) and the run up to the B7 chord. Then learn the next section, the E rock and roll rhythm, and join it to the intro section. Continue on learning it piece by piece until you have finished the whole tune. Play it very slowly, and make it groove at a slow tempo before increasing the speed. You will see that much of the piece has repeating sections with variations, like the E minor pentatonic lick that changes to the blues scale in Bar 12. This is quite common to the style, and it would be great if you tried to work out some of your own variations. Hope you enjoy it.
